Disk tests and local data

Tests create temporary files in internal storage or your selected directory and clean up those files when testing finishes or stops. The benchmark does not read the contents of your personal files. History, settings and permission credentials for your selected folder are stored on your device and are not part of benchmark submissions. Access granted through the system folder picker is used to reopen the selected test location.

Result contribution

Submit Results is enabled by default. Eligible, complete internal-storage tests send the device or drive Model, capacity, platform, test date and four sequential and random read/write speeds to the Jazz Disk Bench results database. New app versions also send the app and benchmark algorithm versions, test parameters, cache and write-synchronization mode, optional latency measurements, and a random identifier for that single run to prevent duplicate counting. Custom-directory results are not submitted.

Submissions do not include your name, account, device serial number, selected folder path, personal file contents or complete local history.

The new service retains individual eligible submissions and aggregates measurements by Model, capacity and platform. Older aggregate results are retained separately. Device groups, average speeds, dates and sample counts are publicly accessible. You can disable future contributions in Settings. Turning off contribution or deleting local history does not remove existing public aggregates; the database does not associate these results with a personal account or unique device identifier.

Network services and retention

Rankings updates and submissions are processed by our hosting, function and database services, currently Netlify and MongoDB. Operational logs may contain IP addresses, request information and, for older services, submitted benchmark fields for service operation and troubleshooting. Individual benchmark submissions and public aggregates are retained to provide and recalculate the results database. New submission handlers do not log request bodies; hosting providers may retain operational request logs.

You can delete local history in the app. System backups may separately retain app data according to your system backup settings. When you open the website, an app store or another external link, that service processes requests under its own privacy policy. Your operating system and app store may provide diagnostics to developers according to your system diagnostic-sharing settings.

Website preferences

The comparison tool uses the URL to identify the two selected public configurations, so you can share a comparison. The website does not require an account to browse results.
